Finger Lakes Region To Receive Nearly $70 Million

Congresswoman Hochul released the following statement after Governor Andrew Cuomo's announcement that Western New York and the Finger Lakes Region would receive over $170 million from the Regional Economic Development Council Initiative:

"I applaud Governor Cuomo's announcement to send over $100 million to Western New York and nearly $70 million to the Finger Lakes Region. This funding will be critical to developing the region's economy and creating more jobs for Western New Yorkers.

"With this plan, our local communities will have more power and input into their regional investment plans, giving them the opportunity to grow their own economies.

"Nearly 200 projects in our region will receive grants, including the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the University of Rochester, Niagara Community College, the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority, and many of our local villages and towns, including Lockport, Batavia, Albion, Warsaw, Spencerport, Mount Morris, and so others.

"Today's announcement puts the power to rebuild our economy in each of our hands."
